Stour Trip - Change of Plans

Download as iCal file

Friday 28 December 2012, 08:45 - 17:00

Because of the possibility of flooding Norman has decided that we will only paddle the Stour if river levels are not too high. If the rain continues and the Medway is in flood on Friday we will paddle down from Yalding instead of the Stour, the final decision wiil be made at 9:00pm at the club.

If you were intending to go straight to Canterbury please come to the club instead. If we paddle the Medway there will be Bacon Butties and Hot Dogs at the club after the paddle.

Come and paddle through Canterbury and on down the Stour to Fordwich to work off the Christmas Mince Pies!  At the end we will find a pub (George & Dragon, Fordwich) to help us put the calories back on again!  Total distance approximately 6-8km.

Please be prepared for cold weather - warm clothing, chocolate bars, etc.  We have had swimmers in hte past, so only paddlers with moving water experience are encouraged to participate.

Egress is in Car Park of George & Dragon Pub, Fordwich (Tel 01227 710 661) subject to pub approval which will be sought prior to the event.

Assuming pub parking approval, please change discretely and use the Pub afterwards to register your thanks.

Location At the club 8:45, then leave in convoy 9:00am

Disclaimer: all our trips are run by club members like you, and unless specifically described otherwise are peer paddles.  If you think that you would benefit from the support of a formal river leader or coach, please contact the trip organiser in advance - we can usually arrange something!  Otherwise you should be confident that your own ability matches the trip as planned.  If your trip is being led by someone - a more experienced paddler, river leader or a coach - it is your responsibility to mention any medical or other issues which may arise during the trip.
