Maidstone Canoe Club

The Explore Award is the next step after the Beginner Course.  It replaces the old 2* award, and is suitable for anyone who's done the old 1*, Discover Award, or Beginner Course.  The focus of this is to build the skills needed to paddle independently and to be a confident member of a paddling group.  It will also build the foundations for other paddle disciplines - whether that's sea kayaking, touring, white water, or anything else.

We'll talk about:

• planning a trip, taking into account the weather, environment, and water conditions
• new skills and paddle strokes for new situations
• efficient paddling to prepare you for longer journeys
• and lots more!

Time: This is a two-day course, running on Saturday September 24th April and Saturday May 1st.  You'll need to come to both days to complete the course.

Cost: Free!  Maidstone Canoe Club doesn't charge for coaching to members.  British Canoeing charge £6 to get the certificate, payable on the day.

Food: Please bring lunch with you, as well as a drink and snacks for on the water.
