Peer Paddling trip and wild camping at “Studen Kladenets” reservoir in Bulgaria.

02 - 05 June 2022 (Queen’s jubilee bank holidays)

- 2nd of June

Traveling to Bulgaria - From London Gatwick to Sofia airport. From there we will have a shuttle to the campsite with a stop for lunch at some local restaurant and also shopping some snacks drinks and other necessities. The estimated shuttle time is around 4h so we are supposed to be at the camp around 7:00 pm.

Camping: We will set up our camp on the shore in the middle of the large water reservoir, we could explore a different direction every day. We are camping in nature with access only to some water fountains. All activities are done with respect to the environment, including trash collection, going to the toilet etc. There is a chance that we may set our camp next to a hunting hut. In that case, there may be some extras like a wooden shelter in which we could eat.

- 3rd of June

We will have a chance to paddle and visit a small chapel and a hidden pond with a waterfall. On the way back we could stop for a late lunch at a local tavern and hopefully enjoy some fish or grilled meat and cold drinks.

- 4th of June

We will go in the opposite direction and visit some more nice sites and visit another tavern for lunch.

- 5th of June

We will visit the ancient Thracian city of Perperikon and also the oldest city in Europe, Plovdiv. From Plovdiv we are flying back to the UK and we suppose to arrive back at Gatwick airport same day.

Important: We are about to join an event organised by a local adventure club “Biala Zvezda” and there may be other participants, including families. The lake gives a chance to enjoy unique sights and a rich natural environment. We set-up a stationary camp in a picturesque area with a lot of wildlife. We could meet roe deer, hinds and stags, hares. If we look up, we often see circling vultures and their nesting places.

The cost of the trip:

 £150 which covers:
- The shuttles from and to the airptorts
- Breakfast and dinner for 3 days
- All camping gear like tents, tables, chairs ect. (Everyone must bring their own sleeping bag and mat.)
- All Gear required for paddling.

Additional costs that everyone must cover:
- Flights tickets
- Lunch and drinks at the venues (prices are very fair in BG)
- Drinks and Snacks
- Travel insurance
