Beginners (& others) whitewater trip

Download as iCal file

From Friday 06 March 2015
To Sunday 08 March 2015

At the beginning of March, we will be running a Beginners Trip to the River Dart and staying at the River Dart Country Park.

This trip is being organised to give those of you who have had a little moving water experience, the opportunity to paddle on the beautiful River Dart. It is particularly suitable for those of you who have been to the Nene white water course.

The trip is open to all abilities and we will need support from our more experienced paddlers. There are several different sections, so the river offers something for everyone. More able paddlers should be able to fit in a run of the Upper Dart before doing the either the Lower Dart or the Dart Loop with the rest of the group. Places for beginners will be dependent on there being enough experienced paddlers to provide safety cover.

The cost of a bed for the two nights in a six-bedded dormitory, is £40 per person, and includes bedding and a cooked breakfast. We usually car share and split the fuel costs.

To book your place, please reply on the forum. More experienced paddlers may book their places directly with the Country Park, quoting Maidstone Canoe Club reservation number 142345, but still need to sign up on the forum so I know who is coming and how much cover we have. I have booked twelve beds, but they have more if we want them (at the moment).

If you want more information or advice, please ask me or one of the other white water paddlers.

Disclaimer: all our trips are run by club members like you, and unless specifically described otherwise are peer paddles.  If you think that you would benefit from the support of a formal river leader or coach, please contact the trip organiser in advance - we can usually arrange something!  Otherwise you should be confident that your own ability matches the trip as planned.  If your trip is being led by someone - a more experienced paddler, river leader or a coach - it is your responsibility to mention any medical or other issues which may arise during the trip.
