Midweek Paddlers

Calling all paddlers who have free time in the week and fancy a paddle.

I am planning to organise regular canoe trips on a Monday up until Christmas. (We can review its success in the new year).

The paddle will be for adults as children should be in school. The canoeing standard needed: you should be able to paddle in a straight line. Time will be given to novice paddlers to help develop their skills.

The plan is to meet at the clubhouse for 9.30 am on a Monday to confirm the paddle based on the weather and river conditions. The aim will be to do a linear paddle by shuffling cars to the start and finish points. Paddlers will need to take a packed lunch and should consider a hot drink as well as wearing appropriate clothing. The finish time will vary but is likely to be between 1.30 and 3.00.

The first Midweek paddle has been arranged for Monday 20th November 2017, meet at the clubhouse for 9.30. We plan to paddle from above Teston to the Clubhouse using the chute at Teston depending on the river conditions. Please bring a packed lunch. You can use a club boat if you are a member and do not have a suitable canoe.

Happy paddling

Disclaimer: all our trips are run by club members like you, and unless specifically described otherwise are peer paddles.  If you think that you would benefit from the support of a formal river leader or coach, please contact the trip organiser in advance - we can usually arrange something!  Otherwise you should be confident that your own ability matches the trip as planned.  If your trip is being led by someone - a more experienced paddler, river leader or a coach - it is your responsibility to mention any medical or other issues which may arise during the trip.
