Maidstone Canoe Club

We’re an island nation, and the sea is never far away!  A kayak is the ideal way to explore the multitude of beaches and coves around Kent and the South East, so why not join us on an “Intro to Sea Kayaking” day trip and see for yourself!  

Rob Davis will be running this coached session around the beautiful coastline of Folkestone.  You'll cover the basics of paddling on the sea (in sea kayaks!) and will build your confidence to go exploring around the South East.  The exact location will depend on the weather on the day, but we’ll choose somewhere calm and easy for your first trip.  There might even be an ice cream afterwards!

 

This is an ideal paddle to do if you're thinking of joining us on our regular trips to Poole or Scotland later in the year.

 

This trip is suitable for anyone who has completed their beginner course (1* / Discover Award) and is competent capsizing with a spray deck.  You’ll need to use one of the Club sea kayaks (speak to someone on the Committee), or Rob has some boats he can loan (£10).
