Fun Session Thanks

The Fun Sessions are pretty well finished for this year and raised a good bit of money toward the upkeep of our club boats. Many thanks to: Andrea, Lee, Suzy, Richard, Steve, Peter, Catherine, Alan, Tony, Rod, Paul, Rowan, Luke and Matt for helping out, without your help the sessions would not be possible. Sorry if I have missed anybody.

Olympic Torch!

Congratulations to those Club members who accompanied the Olympic Torch this morning on the Medway - Aaron, Andrea, Leanne, Suzy, Geoff & Gemma - and thanks to Andrea for organising the shirts.  You can see them on the BBC at http://www.bbc.co.uk/torchrelay/day63 - watch the live stream and drag the slider back to around 7:00.  If you were there, please upload your photos to the site!

Work Day - Thank you

Many thanks to Catherine, Geoff O, Keith, Paul N, Mark C, Steve C, Mark H, Jeff S and Tom W for a good job done today.  A lot of work but well worth it to keep our Club maintained for the future.  Some photos here.

If you couldn't make it today, don't worry - there's still plenty to do and there will be another Club Work Day soon!

Interclub Sea Paddle Cancelled

Please note that the Interclub Sea Paddle this Saturday (7th July) organised by Pirates Canoe Club has been cancelled.  A new date will be announced in due course.

The Club Work Day will still go ahead, please come down and lend a hand!

June Photo Round-Up

Just in case you missed some of the things that have been happening at the Club this month, here's a round-up of the photos that people have uploaded to the website.  First up, Geoff paddles for the Queen, plus video coverage.  The Maidstone Marathon was a huge success, with good results for several club paddlers.  The whitewater trip to the Washburn was superb (photos courtesy of Dawn & Tom), Kent Canoes brought along some boats for the Demo Day, and finally, glorious weather for the Estuary Barbecue & Camp, photos from Geoff & Steve.  If you've been out paddling this month, let us know!

Sea Kayak Training & Trips

Seapoint, in Hythe, are running a number of very reasonably-priced training, sea journey and assessment days this year.   Take a look at their upcoming events here.

Olympic Torch on the Medway

The Olympic Torch will proceed down the Medway on Friday 20th July, at about 7 a.m., aboard a Royal Barge.

There will also be a Maidstone Mile Swim on the same day at 7 p.m.

Please see the Notice to Mariners, below, for advice on river access from the Medway Navigation team.

BCU Training Needs

The Coaching Group are trying to get some idea of who is currently looking for training & assessment for BCU qualifications - star awards, coach qualifications, etc.

If you are working towards one, or would like to be, please reply to this forum thread or talk to one of the coaches.
